Formica pallidefulva looks positively smashing in yellow

One of my collaborators on the wasp project is visiting from out of town, so I have less time than usual this week for blogging.

To make up for the light posting, I bring you one of our local Illinois ants in a dandelion:

Formica pallidefulva

Isn’t she just adorable?

How someone can look THAT CUTE with mandibles like that is beyond me. Positively winsome! =)

  2. It’s the big smile that the inner margins of the mandibles form, biobabbler.
The sinister leer of Leptogenys is quite another matter!
