I am pleased to announce that BugShot, our humble insect photography event from last summer, is poised to expand into a series of courses & workshops. For starters, this means two things:
- The 2012 BugShot summer workshop now has a time and a place: the magical Archbold Biological Station in Florida, August 23-26.
- BugShot now has a dedicated web page, bugshot.net.
Registration for the summer course opens March 1st.

Ooooh, great location!
I’m really excited for this one. It’s your old stomping grounds, James! Archbold is more expensive so we’ve had to raise the registration fee, but I think it’ll be worth it.
I’ve just been reading Eisner’s descriptions of Archbold in “For Love of Insects,” it sounds amazing!
The grant writing fingers are ready to get going.
I really enjoyed taking part last year. Continuity of instructors and the change of venue to the Archbold Biological Station make this a really outstanding opportunity for last year’s participants, as well as people who are new to the BugShot experience.
Thanks to all of you for the work you put into providing the opportunity to do this again!
Hope to see you again this year, Dave- you were a tremendous asset to the group last time!
What, Missouri wasn’t far enough away? Sheesh! (sounds of hair be torn out…)
Think of it this way: your epic Road Trip to BugShot 2012 just got more Epic!
Alternately, if you’re serious about a workshop closer to home, we may well be able to assemble another, smaller BugShot event up your way. We’re definitely expanding into more than just the annual event.

Have you considered making a video? I’d buy one.
Excellent, I’m going to try my hardest to make it this year!
Sounds like a great event…photographers and bug people in the same place and time!
Oh Yay!
If you can think of anyone crazy enough to sponsor an Indian’s visit to Bugshot 2012, do let me know!
