Adetomyrma

These small, blind, subterranean ants live only in Madagascar where they were first discovered in the 1990s.  Adetomyrma contains several poorly-known species; all are likely predators of soil-dwelling arthropods. They are sometimes called "dracula ants" for their habit of feeding on the hemolymph of their own larvae, although this trait is also shared among the other Amblyoponine genera.
