Amblyopone oregonensis
Northern Sierra Nevada, California, USA
An Amblyopone ant carries a larvae around the brood nest. This species requires large rotting logs of the sort found only in old-growth forests. Extensive logging in California and the Pacific Northwest poses a significant threat to A. oregonensis.
