Neivamyrmex sp. nr. leonardi (=Antweb's sp. "CA-01")
Mojave National Preserve, California, USA
Even in the United States, many ant species are still essentially unknown to science. This small army ant is a rare species, still unnamed, known only from a couple of collections in southern California. This colony was found under a rock in an open juniper/oak grassland in the Mojave Desert.
