Hypoponera

Ants in the genus Hypoponera are small, mostly subterranean insects. This species-rich group is common in warmer climates worldwide.  Most species are rather similar in appearance, and the males and queens are often worker-like.  Despite the abundance of these ants, little is known about their biology.
