Heteroptera - True Bugs

The Heteroptera are abundant worldwide as predators, herbivores, and parasites.  These insects have an incomplete metamorphosis and piercing/sucking mouthparts.  Most species also possess scent gland on the underside of the body and a distinct wing structure where the wing is sclerotized at the base and membranous towards the tip.  The Heteroptera include such familiar insects as water striders and stink bugs.
