Atta cephalotes - Leafcutter Ants
Panamá

photograph © Alex Wild 2007

Ants laden with cut leaves hurry along a trail back to their nest.  The ants don't eat the leaves directly.  Rather, they are farmers, cultivating an edible underground fungus.
