Nesomyrmex anduzei
Panamá

photograph © Alex Wild 2007

A Nesomyrmex worker, up-close.  The spines on the petiole (the first of the waist segments) are diagnostic for Nesomyrmex.  Although these ants are not uncommon in Neotropical forests, almost nothing is known about their biology.
