Solenopsis invicta - Red Imported Fire Ant
The red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta, introduced from South America, is a major insect pest in the southeastern United States. Fire ants interfere with farming activities, displace beneficial native insects, damage electrical equipment, and pose health risks associated with their aggressive stinging behavior.
