Trachymyrmex septentrionalis
Texas, USA
Trachymyrmex septentrionalis is the most northerly of the attine fungus-growing ants, reaching as far north as New Jersey and Illinois. Attines as a group are more typically tropical. Here, a worker ant carries excavated soil out of her nest.
