The Auchenorrhyncha are phytophagous (plant-feeding) insects abundant in terrestrial habitats worldwide.  They have piercing/sucking mouthparts and hold their wings tent-like over the body.  This groups contains such familiar insects as cicadas, spittlebugs, and planthoppers.
